Dystonia Living From the Laptop
The world in which we live is in no way a cake walk. Somehow it seems a person can do everything right and still meet new challenges at every turn. The cycle leaves some asking when it will end. Fortunately, your body and your brain are built to decipher puzzles. Keeping the brain (and the body) flexible is like installing a reverse osmosis machine in the Fountain of Middle Age. It builds a better cycle, keeps you at your best; living longer with a greater independence. On the other hand elasticity of mind and body only works when the heart functions within a cooperative paradigm. Cogito ergo Sum, as said Descartes. I think, therefore I am. It is not the event that determines life. Events can only serve as proper catalysts when we allow them to do so. In the end, we decide. We make decisions at the most basic level how we weigh and classify the blurbs of circumstance that stop and pass our beating souls, like so many gusts of moving air on standing water. So, I ask, dear reader, where is your heart? This issue of Dystonia Living Magazine includes information on so-called Organic and non-organic Dystonia. Although, it seems a better choice of words to say Psychogenic and non-psychogenic-- but, I digress. We Dystonians walk a tightrope, often having to feign perfect acceptance, confidence, strength or independence, while living with a disease that very easily attacks every facet of our humanity. All this, while the medical community goes stick fishing in the swamps of neuro-chemical disease. If anything, I hope this little issue will give some the courage to follow a path that heals. The heart first-- then the mind... Let the body do what it will for a while. With a well heart, we aren't going anywhere. Take care and be well...
